The John Glenn - Heuer Stopwatch

John Glen Heuer Stopwatch Space

During a summer 2006 trip to the Space and Flight Museum in San Diego, I discovered this stopwatch that has long been buried at the Smithsonian Institution. This watch was on display as part of a traveling Smithsonian exhibit. I took a picture of the watch using my (now very obsolete) Treo mobilephone camera and posted the picture on two Internet watch boards. Jeff Stein, a Tag-Heuer collector stumbled across the posting and the rest is Tag-Heuer history shown below. The photos below were found in the NASA archives by Jeff Stein. Check out Jeff's website On the Dash.com.

Visiting Friendship 7

I had a chance to visit Friendship 7 at the Smithsonian Air & Space Museum. Below are images of Friendship 7 that John Glenn climbed into February 20th, 1962.
